One way conversation

Today I have decided to disable comments on seriocomic.com. That is, no new comments will be accepted on new or old posts. Older existing comments will remain.

I have toyed with this idea for some time, others have previously considered whether or not to do the same.

What triggered my recent decision was reading Khoi Vihn’s post about his recent redesign where he mentioned turning off comments.

For me, comments were a sense of validation, of feedback on the artistic work I published. However, since I’m not really active in promoting the site or growing the audience I can’t see the value of this particular site function.

For reference, at the time of publishing this site has 1,926 comments on 1,235 posts/articles. Hardly much more than a 1:1/2:1 ratio. Askimet (the spam-catcher) states that it has blocked 196,000 (!!!) comments since it was installed. Clearly there’s an imbalance there.

So, no more comments. If someone wants to take the time to comment on anything I publish, there’s the contact form, or twitter. Until then I’ll continue talking to myself.

Well done!

You clicked the ‘+’! Well done you!

I’ve been wondering if anyone ever clicked that thing, now I know – thanks!
