The Seamstress

THE PHOTO:
Famous just as much for it’s titillation (no pun intended), as it’s artistic and historical significance, this depiction of Gabrielle d’EstrĂ©es and One of Her Sisters that hangs in the Louvre – Paris, had me looking at the secondary detail, the seamstress in the background, and the seemingly intended choice to make each subject left-handed.

POST-PROCESSING:
I tried to replicate the tones of the original as much as possible with my color-balance not set for indoor fluorescence when I took the shot, but also felt that age had dimmed the vibrance in the actual painting, so I used my artistic licence to bring that back.
