Square Man

THE PHOTO:
A solitary military guard in Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi in front of the imposing Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. This square, where Ho Chi Minh made his independence speech in 1945. This grassy checker-board expanse is a “no-go” zone for curious walkers, and it was amusing watching the guards shoo the unknowing tourists off it.
