Latrobe Valley

THE PHOTO:
View across the Latrobe Valley, east of Melbourne, with the Loy Yang Power Station creating it’s own cloud (Yallourn power station is shown middle-left of frame). Taken during a short driving/camping trip at the end of last year. Here’s the remarkably similar Google Street View, showing the spot the image was taken.

POST-PROCESSING:
Almost entirely processed in LightRoom, including B&W treatment. Mostly crop, levels, small vignetting. Minor dodge/burn and curves in Photoshop. I chose black and white because of the sky, and using the black and white filter I could increase the contrast between the clouds (both artificial and real) and the background.

    EXIF:

  • Aperture: ƒ/4
  • Camera: NIKON D700
  • Taken: 28 December, 2010
  • Exposure bias: -4/6EV
  • Focal length: 50mm
  • ISO: 100
  • Shutter speed: 1/1600s
