Not a bad little money-spinner that operation - up and down again every 15 minutes on a fixed winch. Great views though.

THE PHOTO:
The Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia at sunset. Parts of the main temple were under restoration (shown surrounded by the green netting), but it still made for a very photogenic subject.

I never managed to get this shot looking exactly as I saw it in my minds-eye, so this will have to do until I get to revisit it again.

THE PHOTO:
First is a series from my recent trip (24th December to 2nd January 09/10) to Cambodia and Vietnam. This is the famous Angkor Wat complex - one of the most photographed scenes in Cambodia. I, alongside about 300 other photographers, was lining up along the pond-bank to get the sun coming up behind the main complex.

POST PROCESSING:
I had my camera set to JPEG rather than RAW to allow me to take more photos during the trip, and I felt more like a happy-snapper than a photographer because of it. So this image wasn't the sharpest, or best exposed one I took (there were about 50 shots taken), but it had the best composition.

Shadow/Highlight, USM, Color Balance, Rotate, Crop, Levels/Curves.

THE PHOTO:
Another shot of the ANZ building in Docklands, this time showing more of it's premium location next to the Yarra River mouth. My fascination with this massive ANZ bank building started before it was constructed with one of my first HDR shots in Melbourne (and before I even knew what I was looking at). Then when I moved to the Docklands area (I can actually throw a stone and hit the building), it took on a life of its own as it began to dominate the area.

Sharpen, Dodge/Burn, Levels.

OTHER:
OK, so this is not much more than an exercise in SEO domination of a key-phrase. Not even ANZ themselves optimizes for their flagship building's address. It's also to shut-up Jon who keeps pressuring me to do this. This photo was originally titled "ANZ Blue Hour".

Part of last weekend's early morning photo sojourn around Docklands. This being the brand-new ANZ bank headquarters on the Yarra River. An interesting thread about this building can be read here.

I was hoping for a more blue-sky sunrise/sunset look but thought I would put this one up for comparison when I do.

THE PHOTO:
What do you do when you wake up for no reason at 4 in the morning and can't get back to sleep? Well, if you're me, you grab the camera and tripod and go for a wander.

Docklands is great at this time of the morning - I felt as if I had the city to myself.

This was a shot of the recently built, and as far as I can tell, unnamed (and unmapped) footbridge that links Docklands and the Melbourne Convention Center.

Lens correction, USM, Black and White conversion (maximum white), Crop.

THE PHOTO:
Some of the construction that has been taking place at the bottom of Bourke/Collins Streets in my home suburb of Docklands has eased, to the point that access has opened up all the way to the pier end at the base of the Bolte Bridge.
