THE PHOTO:
Of the last 3 trips I have taken to Asia, one of the more ubiquitous scenes you can guarantee when looking out of a train window is a worker tending a rice-paddy. With Vietnam now one of the more productive "bread-baskets" (rice-baskets) of south-east Asia, this scene is now a standard.

Rotate, Sharpen, Levels (mask), Curves (mask), Crop.

P.S. The image is intentionally "dark".

Note: The map reference is completely incorrect because I have no idea where I was when I took this shot.

A "telephone" pole in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. There are lots of examples of these over-wired junction poles, which for some reason kept capturing my attention.

THE PHOTO:
This shot was one of opportunity - however it wasn't the shot I wanted. I took only a dozen or so shots of these cows being moved for grazing alongside the moat surrounding the Angkor Wat complex. The light was amazing and just starting to break through. Two other early photographers were also shooting this scene (I hope they did better than I managed to).

I thought I got better shots, but because of the low light and incorrect camera settings this is the closest I got to a usable shot - and even this has a LOT of photoshopping done to it (actually less than several other attempts). Sometimes you're in the right place at the right time, but if you rush your shots the opportunity is still missed.

POST PROCESSING:
Layers of adjustments. Most of the work was done in DFx 55mm for Photoshop.

A local kid at the Ta Prohm temple near Angkor Wat in Cambodia. What a cool playground to have - all the nooks and crannys of an 800 year old set of ruins.

Taken from the Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia, looking across the famous lily pond, and back to the tourist balloon where the last shot was taken from.

Not a bad little money-spinner that operation - up and down again every 15 minutes on a fixed winch. Great views though.
