THE PHOTO:
Another shot of the ANZ building in Docklands, this time showing more of it's premium location next to the Yarra River mouth. My fascination with this massive ANZ bank building started before it was constructed with one of my first HDR shots in Melbourne (and before I even knew what I was looking at). Then when I moved to the Docklands area (I can actually throw a stone and hit the building), it took on a life of its own as it began to dominate the area.

OTHER:
OK, so this is not much more than an exercise in SEO domination of a key-phrase. Not even ANZ themselves optimizes for their flagship building's address. It's also to shut-up Jon who keeps pressuring me to do this. This photo was originally titled "ANZ Blue Hour".

Taken during a recent pre-dawn outing around Docklands in Melbourne, I ventured to the top (18th floor) of a public car-park and peered over the top towards the west and took this shot of the Yarra River entrance, and the vehicle corridor that provides access for vehicles into this corner of the city.

I can say with certainty that I will be taking more shots from this great spot.

Taken looking out from the 30th floor of 121 Collins Street on the Melbourne Open House day. This executive floor level had a number of board rooms and small recesses with art looking out over the view of South Yarra.

POST PROCESSING:
3 exposure HDR composite with about 50 post processing steps from sharpening and noise reduction, to shadow recovery, levels, curves, lens-correction, etc. In other words, too much to list.

The Southern Star Observation Wheel at Docklands in Melbourne as taken from the roof-top of the adjacent multi-level Waterfront City car-park.

Sadly the wheel suffered some structural faults soon after opening and doesn't look like it will be in operation until 2010.

HDR in Photomatix, Lens Correction (I know it may look slightly on a lean, but I swear it's an optical illusion), USM, Black and White by channel, Dodge and Burn.

THE PHOTO:
This is a reverse angle from the same spot as the last shot, taken earlier in the morning - pre-sunrise. The Etihad Stadium (previously the Telstra Dome) and the Melbourne CBD in the background.

Expect a few more shots like this, especially as it's near my new home in Melbourne.

OTHER:
1st shot published in a month (mostly due to not having an internet connection at home after moving), but I enjoyed the break and might look at slowing down from the old photo-a-day routine and aim for a more relaxed publishing routine. We will see how that works out.
